Plugins, mods or a modpack?

These three words get used interchangeably and they should not be. Which one you want decides which server you buy, and whether your players have to install anything.

Plugin servers

Vanilla gameplay plus Bukkit/Spigot/Paper plugins. Players join with an unmodified Minecraft client - nothing to install.

We host: Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Folia, Vanilla

from $3.99/mo

Mod loaders

Real mods: new blocks, mobs, dimensions and machines. Everyone needs the same mods installed in their launcher.

We host: Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Quilt, Mohist, Arclight

from $8.49/mo

Modpacks

A curated pack installed for you in one click. Your players install the same pack from CurseForge, Modrinth, the FTB app or Prism.

We host: CurseForge Modpack, Modrinth Modpack, FTB Modpack, Custom Modpack

from $8.49/mo

Proxies

Put several servers behind one address and let players hop between them without reconnecting.

We host: Velocity Proxy, BungeeCord Proxy

from $3.99/mo

Bedrock Edition

For phones, tablets, consoles and the Windows edition of Minecraft.

We host: Bedrock Edition, PocketMine-MP

from $3.99/mo

Still not sure? Plugins if you want an economy, land claims and ranks with players joining on a normal Minecraft client. A modpack if you saw a YouTube series and want that exact experience. Mods if you have a specific list in mind.

Mod Finder

Pick it here, we install it for you

Search every modpack, mod and plugin on Modrinth, or paste a pack from CurseForge, FTB or Technic. We work out which server type it needs and roughly how much RAM, then hand it to checkout with your choice already filled in — no zip files, no installer, no support ticket.

Change your mind later and you are not stuck: reinstall onto a different platform from the panel, and your files stay where they are.

PlatformKindRunsWhat it is forFrom
PaperPlugin serverspaper, spigot, bukkit, foliaThe server most public Minecraft servers actually run. Vanilla gameplay, much better performance than vanilla, and it runs the entire Bukkit/Spigot/Paper plugin ecosystem. If you are not sure what to pick and you want plugins rather than mods, pick this.$3.99
PurpurPlugin serverspurpur, paper, spigot, bukkitPaper with hundreds of extra gameplay toggles bolted on - ridable mobs, tweakable mob AI, per-world game rules - and every Paper plugin still works.$3.99
SpigotPlugin serversspigot, bukkitThe classic plugin server, compiled fresh from BuildTools when your server is created. Pick it when a plugin specifically asks for Spigot; otherwise Paper runs the same plugins faster.$3.99
FoliaPlugin serversfoliaPaper's multithreaded fork. It splits the world into regions that tick on separate cores, which is a real win for a large, spread-out player base - but only Folia-aware plugins will load.$3.99
VanillaPlugin servers—Mojang's server exactly as they ship it. No plugins, no mods, no behaviour changes - the reference build, and the right answer when you want the game to behave exactly as it does in single player.$3.99
FabricMod loadersfabricThe lightweight mod loader most modern mods target. It updates to new Minecraft versions quickly, and its performance mods - Lithium, FerriteCore, Krypton - are why a lot of servers choose it.$8.49
ForgeMod loadersforgeThe original Minecraft mod loader, and still what most large modpacks and everything before 1.20 is built on. We handle the older Java versions that 1.7-1.16 packs need.$8.49
NeoForgeMod loadersneoforgeThe community fork of Forge, and where most new mod development for 1.20.2 and later happens. If a recent pack says NeoForge, this is what it wants.$8.49
QuiltMod loadersquilt, fabricA fork of Fabric with its own toolchain that still runs almost every Fabric mod. Pick it when a pack specifically asks for Quilt.$8.49
MohistMod loadersforge, bukkit, spigotA hybrid server: Forge mods and Bukkit plugins on the same world. That combination is genuinely useful - a modpack plus your permissions, economy and anti-grief plugins - but it is less stable than either half alone, so keep backups switched on.$8.49
ArclightMod loadersforge, neoforge, fabric, bukkitThe other hybrid worth running: Bukkit plugins on top of Forge, NeoForge or Fabric, built on Paper internals. Choose the flavour that matches your mods.$8.49
CurseForge ModpackModpacksforge, neoforge, fabricAll the Mods, RLCraft, SkyFactory, Better MC, Create-based packs - if it has a server pack on CurseForge we install it for you. Tell us the pack when you order and your server is ready to join.$8.49
Modrinth ModpackModpacksfabric, quilt, neoforge, forgeEvery pack on Modrinth, installed automatically: we download the mods, apply the pack's own config and install the right loader. Cobblemon, Fabulously Optimized, Adrenaline and the rest.$8.49
FTB ModpackModpacksforge, neoforgeFeed The Beast packs installed with FTB's own server installer - FTB Skies, OceanBlock, Infinity and the rest of the catalogue.$8.49
Custom ModpackModpacksforge, neoforge, fabric, quiltFor everything else: Technic, ATLauncher, a pack a friend zipped up, or one you built yourself. Give us a link to the server pack and we unpack it, run its installer and work out how to start it.$8.49
Velocity ProxyProxiesvelocityThe modern Minecraft proxy. Put your survival, creative and minigame servers behind one address and let players move between them without reconnecting.$3.99
BungeeCord ProxyProxiesbungeecord, waterfallThe classic proxy, plus its Waterfall fork. Maximum plugin compatibility for an existing network; pick Velocity instead if you are starting fresh.$3.99
Bedrock EditionBedrock Edition—Mojang's official Bedrock server - the one phones, tablets, consoles and the Windows edition connect to. Add-ons and behaviour packs are supported; Java plugins and mods are not.$3.99
PocketMine-MPBedrock Edition—The plugin server for Bedrock clients - effectively Bedrock's answer to Spigot. Hundreds of plugins for minigames, economies and world management that the official Bedrock server cannot run.$3.99
How it works

Three steps, about five minutes

  1. Pick your pack or modsUse the Mod Finder above, or paste a CurseForge, FTB or Technic pack. We tell you which server type it needs and which plan fits.
  2. Check outYour choice travels with you to checkout. Change the plan, add a server name, pay, done.
  3. We build itYour server is created, the loader and the pack are installed, and the server is running before you finish reading the welcome email.

Changed your mind about the pack? Set a new one on the Startup tab in the panel and hit reinstall — no ticket needed. Everything else is yours too: file manager, SFTP, scheduled backups, a real console, and a Game Settings tab that edits server.properties for you.

Questions

Modded Minecraft, answered honestly

How much RAM does a modpack actually need?

A light pack of 40–80 mods is comfortable on 4 GB for a handful of friends. A mid-size pack wants 6 GB. Kitchen-sink packs like All the Mods want 8–12 GB, and more once you have a dozen people spread across the world loading chunks. That is why our modded plans start at 4 GB and not 2 GB — a 2 GB modpack server is a refund waiting to happen, so we do not sell one.

Do my players need to install the modpack too?

For mods and modpacks, yes — everyone needs the same pack in their launcher, which is exactly what CurseForge, Modrinth, Prism and the FTB app are for. Plugins are different: they run entirely on the server, so players join with an unmodified client and install nothing.

Can I run mods and plugins together?

Yes, with a hybrid server — Mohist or Arclight. It genuinely works and it is genuinely less stable than either half on its own, so keep backups switched on. If you only need one or two plugin features, look for a mod that does the same job first.

What if my pack is not on Modrinth?

Use the CurseForge / FTB / Technic tab in the Mod Finder. CurseForge and FTB install from the pack name; Technic, ATLauncher and homemade packs install from a link to the server files. If a pack publishes no server files at all, no host can install it — that is the pack, not us.

Which Minecraft versions can I run?

Anything the platform supports, including old ones. We fetch the right Java version automatically, so 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 packs work as well as the current release.

Can I switch platform later?

Yes. Reinstall onto a different platform from the panel whenever you like — your files stay put, and backups are one click before you start. Upgrading to a bigger plan keeps your world, mods and settings.
